Dr Irene Chan, a consultant paediatrician with over 20 years of medical experience, is one of the first fully-trained paediatric intensivist in Singapore. She has received training at the Harvard’s Children’s Hospital in Boston and assisted KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in the establishment of the Children’s ICU in 1997. She served as Head, Children’s ICU from 1997-2003 to Head, Paediatrics Department, KK Children’s Hospital until 2005, managing a team of more than 60 medical professionals under 12 different paediatric subspecialties.

As a member of National Resuscitation Council, Dr Chan is widely recognised as an authoritative figure in Paediatric Resuscitation here in Singapore. Her interests also include children's homecare technology and paediatric emergency transportation for the very ill. Dr Chan has also received the Healthcare Humanity Award from Minister of Health, Khaw Boon Wan in 2006, in recognition for her work with children.

She has given numerous public presentations and lectures at local, regional and international meetings and conferences, and has written and edited handbooks on paediatrics and resuscitation as well as papers in scientific journals.

An avid member of the Singapore Volunteers Overseas, Dr Chan is responsible for developing an ongoing training programme for Cambodia’s National Paediatric Hospital in Phnom Penh.

On a personal note
" I love kids," says Dr Chan, as reflected in her clinic's logo, and as she has 4 of her own whom she thoroughly enjoys swimming and playing sports with. As a strong believer that total physical, social, spiritual and emotional development brings about a happier and healthier child, Dr Chan endeavors to help all children achieve ‘total development’ as well.
